ABOUT FORT HIL FARM
In the Spring 2009 issue of Edible Nutmeg, writer Nancy Weis offers this view of the farm, "The land, once owned by Major Robert Thompson, after whom the town is named, has been in agriculture for more than 300 years and is one of the rare King's Grant farms in the state.

It sweeps gracefully along both sides of a country road and across a long green meadow to a steep drumlin. A split-rail fence punctuated by weeping evergreens delineates Kristin's nursery, Quintessential Gardens at Fort Hill Farms. The nursery, which includes a pick-your-own organic blueberry patch, uses the foundation wall of an 1889 barn as a dramatic backdrop to Kristin's most ambitious project to date, an extensive organic planting of lavender, including two elegant labyrinths of lavender composed of over 900 plants. A third labyrinth of 500 lavender plants was created within the walled foundation of a small house."
